The Role: |
The core purpose of the role will be to strategically lead and manage the business innovation, financial, premises, personnel and administrative aspects of the centre. |

Key Responsibilities
|
· Marketing the venue through publications, trade shows & the internet · Being a single point of contact for enquires over the phone, venue tours, closing bookings, providing care and service time leading up to event and managing the event itself from the venues prospective. · Meeting and exceeding annual booking and revenue target · Setting up agreements with suppliers for profit share opportunities · Working closely with and reporting to the executive committee · Controlling staffing & labour costs with the venues cleaning staff, car parking attendants & facilities manager. Completing weekly rotas, timesheets and forecasts · Ensuring the safety of the centres equipment and hired equipment · Compliance with government regulations relating to hygiene, Health and Safety, fire emergency procedures, security of premises and property and general conduct of employees · Ensuring that all guests receive high quality service and that their complaints/queries are dealt with promptly · Complying monthly balance sheet and profit & loss |

Knowledge, Skills, Understanding: |
Education and Qualifications Essential: · A relevant professional Management or equivalent qualification · Thorough commercial based experience Desirable: · Degree or equivalent qualification · Further relevant educational professional qualification

Dr Kamlesh Khunti Diabetes expert on list of influential GPs
A diabetes expert from Leicester has been voted one of the most influential GPs in the country.
Dr Kamlesh Khunti is in the top 50 of family doctors who have helped shaped health care in the past year in a list published by Pulse magazine, one of the country’s leading medical publications.
Prof Khunti, 49, has been a GP in Leicester for more than 20 years, although much of his work is now centred on diabetes research.
He is professor of diabetes and cardiovascular medicine at the University of Leicester and on the primary care diagnosis of diabetes.
Prof Khunti, whose practice is in Hockley Farm, Braunstone, has helped the Royal College of General Practitioners to improve the diagnosis of patients with diabetes.
He also works as an adviser to the Department of Health on its national vascular screening programme.
The programme, introduced through GP surgeries, helps to detect early signs of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
Prof Khunti was brought up in the city and returned to Leicester after training to be a doctor in Scotland.
Along with Professor Melanie Davies, from the University of Leicester, he has developed the self-education Desmond programme which helps patients with type two diabetes control their condition.

મોઢવાડીયા મહેરોએ વર્ષોથી પકડી રાખેલો અપિયો છોડાવવા ખિસ્તરીયા મહેરોએ કરેલું સભાનું આયોજન
છેલ્લાં પંદરેક વર્ષથી મહેર જ્ઞાતિના સંતો, સમજદાર અગ્રેસરો, લેખકો, પત્રકારો, અને શિક્ષીત યુવા પેઢી જ્ઞાતિમાં સંપ, એકતા, સંગઠન અને ભાઇચારાનું વાતાવરણ સર્જાય તે માટે તનતોડ મહેનત ઊઠાવી રહેલ છે. તેના પરીણામે જ્ઞાતિમાં ઘણું સારૂ પરીણામ દેખાય છે. પરંતુ મોઢવાડીયા મહેરોએ ખિસ્તરીયા મહેરો સાથે અપિયાને છોડાવવા માટે આજ દિવસ સુધી કોઇ નક્કર પ્રયાસો થયા નહોતા લેખકશ્રી ભરતભાઇ બાપોદરા તથા ખિસ્તરીયા મહેરો સાથે મળીને એ સમસ્યાનું નિરાકરણ લાવવા માટે બીડું ઝડપ્યું. જેના ભાગ રૂપે તા.૩૧/૩/ર૦૧૧ના રોજ પોરબંદરના ઝુંડાળા મેર જ્ઞાતિ ભવન ખાતે બપોરના ૩ થી ૭ સુધી એક સભાનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવેલું આ સભામાં ખિસ્તરીયા, મોઢવાડીયા, ગોઢાણીયા, વગેરે ભાયાતોના સમજદાર વડીલો અને યુવાનો ઊપરાંત પૂ.સ્વામીશ્રી પરમાત્માનંદગિરિજી મહારાજ, શ્રીઅરભમભાઇ કેશવાલા, શ્રીરાણાભાઇ કડછા, શ્રીભરતભાઇ બાપોદરા, તેમજ બારોટ સમાજમાંથી શ્રીબાબુભાઇ બારોટ, શ્રીકાન્તીભાઇ બારોટ, શ્રીઊન્નડભાઇ બારોટ, શ્રીખીમજીભાઇ બારોટ, શ્રીલખુભાઇ બારોટ, શ્રીરમેશભાઇ બારોટ, શ્રીગુણવંતભાઇ બારોટ અને શ્રીકાનજીભાઇ બારોટ ખાસ ઊપસ્થિત રહ્યા હતા.
મુરબ્બી શ્રીરાણાભાઇ કડછા દ્વારા ગુલાબના ફુલથી સ્વામીજી સન્માન કર્યા બાદ શરૂ થયેલા પ્રવચનના દોરમાં જ્ઞાતિના જાણિતા લેખક ભરતભાઇ બાપોદરાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, મોઢવાડીયા મેરોએ નાથા મોઢવાડીયાને દગાથી મરાવવા બાબત ખીસ્તરીયા મેરો સાથે કોઇ પણ જાતનો વહેવાર ન રાખવાનો જે અપિયો પકડી રાખેલો છે. તે ઇતિહાસનો ઊંડાણપૂર્વકનો અભ્યાસ કર્યા વિના પકડાયેલો અપિયો છે. ઇતિહાસનો વ્યવસ્થિત અભ્યાસ કરવામાં આવે તો ખ્યાલ આવશે કે, એ ઘટનામાં પુંજા ખીસ્તરીયાને તો કેવળ હાથો જ બનાવવામાં આવેલો બાકી આંખુ ષડયંત્ર તો પોરબંદર સ્ટેશનનું હતું. વડોદરાના રાજા ગોપાલરાવ ગાયકવાડ. જામનગરના રાજા જામરણમલ અને જુનાગઢના નવાબ બહાદર ખાન બાબીએ સંયુકત રીતે રાજકોટની એજન્સી સરકારમાં નાથા મોઢવાડીયાને જીવતો કે મરેલો પકડવાની ફરીયાદ દાખલ કરી હતી. તેથી એજન્સી સરકારે પોરબંદરની રાણી રૂપાળી બા ઊપર દબાણ કરેલું કે, નાથા મોઢવાડીયાને જીવતો કે મારેલો હાજર કરો નહી તો પોરબંદરનું રાજ જપ્તીમાં લેવામાં આવશે. તેથી રૂપાળી બાએ પોતાનું રાજ જવાની બીકે આ ષડયંત્ર ઊભું કર્યું હતું. તેમાં પુંજા ખીસ્તરીયાને દોષિત ઠેરવી શકાતો નથી. આમ છતાં મોઢવાડીયા મેરો આમ છતાં મોઢવાડીયા મેરો જો અપિયાને પકડી રાખશે તો તેઓ પાપના અધિકારી બનશે. કારણ કે ખીસ્તરીયા મેરોને દીકરા-દીકરીઓના વહેવારમાં ઘણી મુશ્કેલી ઉભી થાય છે. દીકરીઓને ઘણું સહન કરવું પડે છે.
શ્રીરાણાભાઇ કડછાએ પોતાના મંતવ્યમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે, મકર ધ્વજથી માંડીને નટવરસીહ સુધીનો જેઠવા વંશનો આખો ઇતિહાસ મારી પાસે છે. જેઠવા રાણાઓ મેરની શકિત પર પોતાનું રાજ ચલાવતા આવેલા. નાથા મોઢવાડીયાને મરાવવાનું તરકટ પણ પોરબંદર સ્ટેશન તરફથી રચવામાં આવેલું.
પૂ.સ્વામીશ્રી પરમાત્માનંદગિરિજી મહારાજે પોતાના પ્રવચનમાં જણાવેલું કે, આજે સમાજનો ભૌતિક વિકાસ ઘણો થયો છે. પરંતુ બૌધિક વિકાસ થયો નથી. જેને કારણે માનવમાંથી માનવતા, સંસ્કાર વગેરે મૂલ્યો લુપ્ત થયા છે. સ્વામીજીએ વિશેષમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે, નાથા ભગત વીર પુરૂષ હતા, સિધ્ધાત ખાતર લડતા હતા પરંતુ માણસનું આયુષ્ય જન્મથી જ નક્કી થયેલું છે. એમાં કોઇ મીનમેક કરી શકતું નથી. નાથા ભગતના માૃત્યુમાં પુંજો ખીસ્તરીયો તો માત્ર નિમીત્ત જ બનેલો આયુષ્ય પુરૂ થવાનું હોય તો કોઇને કોઇને નિમીત્ત બનવાનું જ. માટે મોઢવાડીયા ભાઇઓએ આવા અંધશ્રધ્ધા યુકત અપિયાઓને પકડી રાખવો
જોઇએ નહી. વળી, કોઇ એકાદ માણસ દ્વારા થયેલી ભુલની સજા આખા સમાજને આપવી એ વાજબી કહી શકાતી નથી. આ હકિકત સમજાવવા માટે બારોટોએ પણ નૈતિક હમત કેળવવીને આગળ આવવું જોઇએ અને વહેવામાં વહેલી તકે આ સમસ્યા નાબુદ કરવી જોઇએ.
મોઢવાડીયા મેરોના બારોટ શ્રીેખીમજીભાઇએ પોતાના પ્રવચનમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે, આ વિચાર ઘણો જ ઊત્તમ છે. મેર જ્ઞાતિની અંદર ઘણી એવી સમસ્યાઓ છે. કે જેનું નિરાકરણ આવવું જોઇએ. નાથા ભગતની બાબતમાં બારોટોને ખોટી બદનામી મળી છે. બારોટો જોડવાનું કામ કરે છે. તોડવાનું નહી. આ જ્ઞાતિનું હિત થતું હોય તેમાં સહકાર આપવો એ અમારી પવિત્ર ફરજ બને છે. એ માટે અમને ગમે ત્યારે અને ગમે ત્યાં બોલાવશો તો અમે અવશ્ય હાજર રહીશું.
સ્વ.કાનજીભાઇ બારોટના પુત્ર શ્રીગુણવંતભાઇ બારોટ, રાજશાખા મેરના બારોટશ્રી રમેશભાઇ, ઓડેદરા મેરના બારોટશ્રી ઊન્નડભાઇ, ખીસ્તરીયા મેરના બારોટશ્રી લખુભાઇ, મોઢવાડીયા મેરના બારોટશ્રી કાન્તીભાઇ, વગેરેએ પણ પોત-પોતાના પ્રવચનમાં જણાવેલ કે, મેર સમાજ એક થવો જોઇએ. મેર સમાજમાં સંગઠન અને એકતા હશે તો રાજકિય નેતાઓને પણ નમવું પડશે. મેરના આગેવાનો સાથે મળીને આ કામ હાથ ધરે તો જરૂર સફળતા મળે અને સદાય સૌની સાથે રહેશું.
બારોટોના પ્રવચનના દોર પછી શરૂ થયેલા ખીસ્તરીયા અને મોઢવાડીયા મેરોના પ્રવચન દોરમાં શ્રીકચરાભાઇ ખીસ્તરીયાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, અમારા બારોટ દેવ આગળ આવે તો આ પ્રશ્ન હલ થઇ શકે નાથા ભગતની બાબતમાં જીથરા ભાભાની વાર્તા જેવું તુત ઉભું થયેલું છે. બારોટોએ મોઢવાડીયા ભાઇઓના ઘરે-ઘરે જઇને ખરી હકિકત સમજાવવાની જરૂર છે. જેમ સ્વાધ્યાય પરીવારના ભાઇઓ ઘરે ઘરે જાય છે. તેમ બારોટો આ બાબતે મોઢવાડીયાના ભાઇઓના ઘરે ઘરે જઇને ખરી હકિકત સમજાવશે તો હું તેને તેઓનો સ્વાધ્યાયી કહીશ.
વિદેશથી પધારેલા શ્રીલાખણશીભાઇ મોઢવાડીયાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, ભગવાને આપણને મનુષ્યનો અવતાર આપેલો છે. માટે ખોટા વહેમો, અંધશ્રધ્ધાઓ અને કુમાન્યતાઓનો ત્યાગ કરીને પરસ્પર સંપ અને એકતા સાંધવા એમાં જ માણસનું ખરી માનવતા રહેલી છે. મારો એક સાઢુભાઇ ખીસ્તરીયા છે. હું ત્યાં જાઉં છું તેના ઘરે જમું છું. મને કોઇ અડચણ આવી નથી માટે મોઢવાડીયા ભાઇઓને મારી નમ્ર અપીલ છે. હવે આવા ખોટા વહેમોમાંથી બહાર નિકળો અને સમાજમાં સંપ અને ભાઇચારાનું વાતાવરણ સર્જવાના વડીલોના પ્રયાસોમાં સહકાર આપો.
પૂ.સ્વામીજીના આર્શીવચનો સાથે પ્રવચનનો દોર પૂર્ણ થયા બાદ સ્વામીના અધ્યક્ષ સ્થાને એક કમિટીનું નિર્માણ કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું આ કમિટીમાં જ્ઞાતિજનો અને બારોટોનો સમાવેશ કરવામાં આવેલ છે.

The Maher Centre is under going it’s first major refurbishment since it was opened. The centre, first of it’s kind in UK for Maher Community was opened in the Aug 1996, with a grand ceremony that attracted thousands of people from all parts of the world.
This major development will take up to 8 months and when completed it will have state of the art facilities for weddings, parties, exhibitions and all major events, including separate Sports Hall.
This is a grand project and will take considerable amount of time, money and effort to complete. This project is managed by Mr Nagajanbhai Bapodra (Leicester), and architects are Multi Creation London.

Aakash Odedra a rising star of British South Asian dance
Aakash Odedra is a rising star of British South Asian dance. He began his beloved vocation of at the age of 8 with Smt. Nilima Devi at the Centre of Indian Classical Dance (CICD) in Leicester. Training initially in Kathak, he later studied other dance styles including Bharat Natyam, Indo-Jazz and Contemporary.
He has trained with acclaimed dancers such as Chitraleka Bolar in the UK and Asha Joglekar and Chhaya Kanvateh in India. Over the years Aakash has performed with many companies and artists including Pagrav Dance Company, Nilimadevi Dance Company and Raju Mali. He performed in Recipies for Curry, a co-production between sampad South Asian Arts (Birmingham) and indance (Toronto); Asian Spring an annual event of South Asian youth dance produced by sampad; and Daredevas 2008, Akademi’s showcase for young British and international talent at the the Southbank Centre.
Desi Masti and Curve (Leicester) asked Aakash to choreograph a piece for the opening of Curve’s new theatre in November 2008. He titled this piece Flight. So impressed were Curve, Aakash’s piece was the only one invited to perform for HRH The Queen on her visit to the Theatre in December 2008. In 2008, Aakash was awarded a development grant by Arts Council England where Aakash attended workshops at Alvin Ailey, New York, Impulz Tanz, Vienna and trained at Kadamb with Kumudini Lakhia, Ahmedabad. He was also awarded a 2-year choreographic bursary by Akademi to develop his choreographic skills and will begin in December 2009.
In November 2009, Aakash was invited by Akram Khan to perform at the Svapngata Festival at Sadler’s Wells. This 30 minute solo titled Mati Re was choreographed by Smt. Kumudini Lakhia.
