We request participants to be in proper costumes. Judges will be looking for unique concepts and effort.\nArti Plate Design: Sunday 6th October @ 7pm promptly\nCompetition is open to children and adults. We would like to request our elders to encourage children to take part in decorating an Arti plate.\nTraditional Dress Code: Saturday 5th October\nPlease wear our traditional Maher clothes on this evening. Ladies will have an opportunity to perform a customary Raasado and the Gents can perform a Maniyaro Raas to the dhol.\nDance and Dress Competition: Saturday 5th October\nThere will be an opportunity for everyone to take part in a healthy competition. Please note\, the competition will be for one day only on Saturday 5th October. Participants must be wearing traditional Maher clothing.\nMataji ni Sthapna and Puja Ceremony\nThere will be a Sthapna ceremony taking place on the first day of Navratri. DESCRIPTION:About Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi)\nThe bonding between a brother and a sister is simply unique and is beyond description in words. The relationship between siblings is extraordinary and is given importance in every part of the world. However\, when it comes to India\, the relationship becomes all the more important as there is a festival called “Raksha Bandhan” dedicated for the sibling love.\nThis is a special Hindu festival which is celebrated in India and countries like Nepal to symbolise the love between a brother and a sister. The occasion of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu luni-solar calendar in the month of Shravan.\nMeaning of Raksha Bandhan\nThe festival is made up of two words\, namely “Raksha” and “Bandhan.” As per the Sanskrit terminology\, the occasion means “the tie or knot of protection” where “Raksha” stands for the protection and “Bandhan” signifies the verb to tie. Together\, the festival symbolizes the eternal love of brother-sister relationship which does not mean just the blood relationships only. It is also celebrated among cousins\, sister and sister-in-law (Bhabhi)\, fraternal aunt (Bua) and nephew (Bhatija) and other such relations.\nReason for the celebration of this festival\nThe festival of Raksha Bandhan is observed as a symbol of duty between brothers and sisters. The occasion is meant to celebrate any type of brother-sister relationship between men and women who may not be biologically related.\nOn this day\, a sister ties a rakhi around the wrist of her brother in order to pray for his prosperity\, health and well-being. The brother in return offers a gifts and promises to protect his sister from any harm and under every circumstance. The festival is also celebrated between brother-sister belonging to distant family members\, relatives or cousins.

Lunch will be served continued with an afternoon of discussions for the youth including careers and education\, along with activities followed by dinner.\nMonday\, December 24\, 2018 \nThis day is split into two with golf early in the am for our golfers participating in the inaugural NAMC Maher Tournament. For those of our guests not playing golf\, enjoy a lazy morning with breakfast before you are transported to a sports complex and park to meet up with our golfers to for the Samelan Sports Day and BBQ.
