Main
diet consists of "roti" (chapatti) made of flour and "Sak"
(curry, made of various vegetables, mainly featuring potatoes). Also
a wide variety of beans and lentils.
"Rotalo" is quite a favourite for the
elders. "Khisdi" is another popular dish since it is simple
to make and it consists of rice and lentils, with optional butter.
Also home made pickles of various ingredients, that includes carrots,
mango and chilli. And salad if available!, includes cucumber, spring
onion and fresh chilli.
As for drinks, milk, "sash" (lassi)
and mango pulp are most popular. As for anything sweet, well this
is usually reserved for the guests.
However the menu completely changes on special
occassions such as on wedding, birthday, Diwali and on other festivals.
During this occassion there is huge variety of food on offer that
can only be found on such occassions. Especially a great variety
of "methias" (sweets), jalebi, gulab jambu, peda, munthar
and much more...
