Costumes
are very distinctive and can be easily recognised. These are very
important part of Maher culture, that has been past on from generations
and has changed little over the centuries.
Eventhough jeans and trousers are readily available,
still men prefers to wear their traditional costumes. This applies
none less to women, who takes pride in wearing traditional costumes
over sari. This is one of the reason why Maher culture has flourished,
where as others have perished. Also on weddings and during festivals
such as Navratri, many Maher men, women and even children wear their
traditional costumes, even those who does not wear it everyday.
However times are constantly changing and many
are now begining to adapt to new fashion and trends to meet their
practical needs.
